Project Scope

Universal Piling engaged MAE Solutions to provide rope access labour support for a railway embankment stabilisation project in Farnborough. The 10-week project involved stabilising an embankment approximately 150m in length and 50m in height, which had recently failed. The scope of work included:

Low-level de-vegetation and stump reduction.
Installation of 770 Platypus anchors.
Placement of 4000m² of erosion protection mesh.

The project required meticulous planning and execution to ensure the railway network remained fully operational throughout the duration of the works.

Specialist Labour Supply:
MAE provided a team of experienced and qualified geotechnical and de-vegetation specialists to complement Universal Piling’s in-house rope access team.
Supervision & Safety:
IRATA Level 3 supervisors managed the project, ensuring all works adhered to stringent safety standards. This included selecting appropriate equipment and anchorage systems to guarantee a Safe System of Work (SSOW).
Railway Operations:
The work was carried out using our Personal Track Safety (PTS)-qualified technicians, allowing the railway to remain fully operational throughout the project.
Slope Stabilisation:
Our team efficiently installed 770 Platypus anchors and secured 4000m² of erosion protection mesh, stabilising the embankment and preventing further failure.
